Abstract
This paper is a narrative of two civil society responses in various communities in Bohol following the earthquake in October 2013. In particular, it describes and analyzes the shelter program of the Bohol Local Development Foundation (BLDF) and the psychosocial support activities conducted in January 2014 with Bohol Pagpapatuloy Mission of Miriam College. This paper discusses the strategies and activities of the interventions. It also indicates some good practices and some of the lessons learned from the above interventions include: Sustaining psycho-social support and including an emphasis on well-being and counseling; greater coordination among service providers and various sectors of the community; transparency and facilitating the transformation of communities through participatory processes; and comprehensive plans and programs for sustained rehabilitation and recovery.
